A Potpourri of Bitter-Sweet Memories and Actions
From the foundation of the Irish Free State in 1922, legislation had included restrictions on freedom of women with respect to reproductive rights, marriage, family law, employment, and welfare. The Commission of the Status of Women issued a report to the Minister of Finance in 1972, which triggered increasing political activism among women. The course will look at this new wave of feminist activity in Ireland.
