Thurs 14th May
10am-11am; FREE
Join us on Thursday 14th May at 10am for a fascinating FREE community talk with Dr Antonia Hart, Historian in Residence for the Terenure area, as she brings the soon to be released 1926 census to life.
For the first time in 100 years, the 1926 census records will be available from 18th April, and fully searchable online thanks to the National Archives of Ireland.
The 1926 census was the first of the newly formed Irish Free State, capturing a population of 2.97 million people. It offers a uniquely intimate snapshot of a country rebuilding and redefining itself, with rich details on age, occupation, religion, housing, Irish-language ability, and more.
Over 700,000 household returns have been carefully preserved, conserved, scanned, and transcribed using advanced technology, making them freely searchable online for the very first time.
In this engaging and accessible session, Dr Antonia will show you exactly how to unlock this remarkable resource, whether you're a complete beginner or already curious about your roots.
